Welcome to Orienthailiving... My first post!

I have dreamt about this for a while and always putting it off… WHY? I was too scared I guess to jump in. Maybe I felt I was a tad too old to start learning everything that goes with self-hosting.

Why Orienthailiving?

I suppose because there are so many lovely places to see here, many of which I have seen and many which I want to see. They are on my bucket list no less. I am discovering old traditions passed down through generations and we are growing our own turkeys among other things. There are so many beautiful crafts and things which I would love to bring to you and which would look lovely in your home or as a gift. It would also bring a little bit of the Orient to you wherever you are in the world.

So, my friends, that is how Orienthailiving was born. What do you think of the name Orienthailiving? Do you think Orienthailiving reflects me and my core values?

Beautiful cooking pots, dishes and things which if you are an expat like me I have discovered I can’t buy here. So I have sourced some of those for you, beautiful furniture and ornaments, lights and so much more.

So yes I will have links on my posts and recipes but only ones which will show you how I have benefited from a particular piece of kitchenware and love to use in my cooking so I suppose you would call it an honest review.

I also wanted to keep my other website separate.

As I didn’t want to merge the two…Retired no one told me! is my baby..my first foray into the world of blogging and yes I would like to earn a little to help support the lifestyle that I love and my writing. So to me having them completely separate, but both reflecting the country that I love and live in.

Also, healthy eating is my baby and my passion so whatever else I decide that I will bring to you it won’t be things which I wouldn’t eat, drink or make merry on myself.

So in a nutshell…

Supplements, protein pills and powders and the ilk are a no-no and always will be for me and will not be shown on my blog ever.

As had always suffered from skin problems and I have discovered a brilliant cleaner called Morris Clean. I can clean my oven, my kitchen, bathroom, garden furniture in fact anything. It is a clear colourless liquid and I don’t need to wear gloves or a facemask. It comes in little packets and it just dissolves in plain old tap water. Sceptical Annie here thought ..really???? Been there, used it, paid too much for it and invariably it either didn’t do what it said on the tin or bought my hands up in a rash.

To say I was amazed is actually true and it has even been endorsed by Oprah herself! Yes indeed, the more I heard and having had a bar you do hear some stories, well, I was still not impressed. So armed with my free sample, my thoughts, and my doubts, I was waiting for it to fail. Guess what? It actually worked!

This company has tried to persuade me for a while to sell for them and I kept saying no and go away. When I was just chatting about my new website to the owner he said FREE SAMPLES and I will send them out for you! So peeps if and when I succumb to his charms or wiles I will get you some free samples, and he better stick to his word. lol.

Personally, I think as well as getting me to sell his wares he is definitely angling for a Christmas dinner again this year. lol.

So please bear with Me…

That’s my aim and when you receive this post there will still be tweaks to do, so please bear with me. It takes a while to set anything up, but I am no young thing who can do it in a trice. It takes me a while and that is with some help, lol, and I have found a lovely young woman called Misty who I think is going to be an absolute little gem. I already feel less stressed.

I hope you will bear with me into my first foray of self-hosting and be sure, I will make changes. Because really how many times do we change our furniture around so that goes without saying. Any constructive words will be gratefully received as I really pretty much still don’t have a clue. To be honest I am not one of these bright young things who was born with a mouse in hand. I am self-taught, a tad over 50 ish (now that is stretched). I am trying really hard as I don’t want to sit in my rocking chair with a good book and just watch while the world passes me by. So be kind to me in view of my advancing years.  (just don’t upset me!…haha…) That was age card pulled…yeah! Bring it on!

If you like what you read please share. Anywhere will do so I can build up my little list of followers and likes and shares. Thank you! x

About the author

Enjoying life in The Land Of Smiles I am having so much fun researching, finding new, authentic recipes both Thai and International to share with you. New recipes gleaned from those who I have met on my travels or are just passing through and stopped for a while. I hope you enjoy them. I love shopping at the local markets, finding fresh, natural ingredients, new strange fruits and vegetables ones I have never seen or cooked with. I am generally the only European person and attract much attention and I love to try what I am offered and when I smile and say Aroy or Saab as it is here in the north I am met with much smiling. Some of my recipes may not be in line with traditional ingredients and methods of cooking but are recipes I know and have become to love and maybe if you dare to try you will too. You will always get more than just a recipe from me as I love to research and find out what other properties the ingredients I use have to improve our health and wellbeing. I will be showing you cooking pots and dishes used here and local traditionst hat I discover on my travel and interesting places to visit. I am having a wonderful ride and don’t want to get off, so if you wish to follow me on my adventures, then welcome! I hope you enjoy the ride also and if it encourages you to take a step into the unknown or untried, you know you want to.......Then, I will be happy!
