Kings Park...Perth WA

Still in Perth, WA and amazed at how clean it is…

When you come into Perth you can see the whole skyline in one view… There is the Swan River on one side and The Canning River on the other side and they just sparkle in the sunlight. It is a beautiful city and our first visit to not only WA but Australia has not disappointed in any way at all…

Perth, capital of Western Australia, sits where the Swan River meets the southwest coast. Sandy beaches line its suburbs, and the huge, riverside Kings Park and Botanic Garden on Mt. Eliza offer sweeping views of the city. The Perth Cultural Centre houses the state ballet and opera companies and occupies its own central precinct, including a theatre, art galleries and the Western Australian Museum.

Today we are visiting Kings Park…

Kings Park is a 1,000-acre park located on the western edge of Perth, Western Australia. The park is a  beautiful mixture of grassed parkland, botanical gardens and natural bushland on Mount Eliza with two-thirds of the grounds conserved as native bushland. It has almost 360 degrees panoramic views of the Swan River and Darling Range. The park overlooks the city as well as Perth Water and Melville Water on the Swan River.

It is one of the largest inner city parks in the world and the most popular visitor destination in Western Australia.

We saw wildlife and beautiful native flowers.

Kings Park also contains the State War Memorial, the Royal Kings Park Tennis club and a reservoir. The streets are tree lined with individual plaques dedicated by family members to Western Australian service men and women who died in World War I and World War II.

There is also a glass walkway which has spectacular panoramic views.

The views from there over Perth are something else, they were just awesome…

A lovely park where you can take your own food or eat at one of the restaurants on site. The choice of restaurants there is very good, although they can be quite busy. The wait wasn’t long. We bought our food and sat outside under a shady tree and just watched the world go by…

Kings Park hosts Australia’s largest wildflower show and exhibition – the Kings Park Festival. This is an annual festival held in September each year.

I was pleased that I had taken our camping chairs with us as it was lovely just to sit and admire the views and people watch. In fact, we went to outdoor concerts and just sat on the river bank some days so these lightweight little chairs were a godsend.

And how many times have I forgotten the charger.. too many to count and as we are quite close now to Perth we have stored our chairs etc at my daughters for next time as the life there is very much geared to the outdoors with free gas BBQ’s available to use at many venues… A brilliant idea I thought…

I hope you are enjoying our little trips to Perth this week as Saturday sees us at one of the amazing eating places around Perth…

Make sure you don’t miss it by signing up for the newsletter because you will receive a free pdf of how to make your own Thai curry pastes… Authentic recipes and/or follow me so you don’t miss a post… Who knows where I will be taking you next week…

Enjoying life in The Land Of Smiles I am having so much fun researching, finding new, authentic recipes both Thai and International to share with you. New recipes gleaned from those who I have met on my travels or are just passing through and stopped for a while. I hope you enjoy them. I love shopping at the local markets, finding fresh, natural ingredients, new strange fruits and vegetables ones I have never seen or cooked with. I am generally the only European person and attract much attention and I love to try what I am offered and when I smile and say Aroy or Saab as it is here in the north I am met with much smiling. Some of my recipes may not be in line with traditional ingredients and methods of cooking but are recipes I know and have become to love and maybe if you dare to try you will too. You will always get more than just a recipe from me as I love to research and find out what other properties the ingredients I use have to improve our health and wellbeing. I will be showing you cooking pots and dishes used here and local traditionst hat I discover on my travel and interesting places to visit. I am having a wonderful ride and don’t want to get off, so if you wish to follow me on my adventures, then welcome! I hope you enjoy the ride also and if it encourages you to take a step into the unknown or untried, you know you want to.......Then, I will be happy!
